MAC OS-X Compliance setting homepage Safari

Hello,

I am currently working on a ConfigMgr project with adding MAC OS-X clients to the environment. Everything has been setup, Mac machines enroll ok, application distribution works fine, but I have an issue with compliance setting. Compliance is working ok, but my issue is that I need to set the homepage of Safari.

I have create a configuration item with a setting where I filled in the com.apple.Safari file in the Application ID box and the HomePage in the Key box. I create a compliance rule to remediate the setting and put a company homepage address. I added this configuration item to a baseline and deployed it to the collection with MAC OS Machines to evaluate every 10 min (for test).

I get a 100% compliance, but logging on on a Mac does not give me the homepage I have set. I have been looking in to this and found that the default location ConfigMgr uses is /Library/Preferences where a com.apple.safari.plist file has been created with the HomePage entry I put in the Configuration Item. So compliance works indeed, however I need to have the homepage entry in the users com.apple.Safari.plist file.

I have tried to change the Application ID setting in ConfigMgr to: $User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari (read it in a blog) to use the $User variable. This did not solve the issue, what happened was that a folder $User/Library/Preferences was created on the Mac.

I use MAC OS-X 10.8.4, ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 CU2

I hope someone has played with this and found a solution.

Thanks,

Robin
