There are a small section of our PC estate that require stringent control over when and how there software updates are installed, for this reason we opted to make software updates OPTIONALLY available to them and a task sequence available (that includes the step 'Install Software Updates') so that they can install the updates at their leisure.
This configuration has worked for a couple of years now but just this past couple of weeks we are starting to see unexpected results.
The task sequence no longer installs the updates - the step runs but no updates are installed. The updates will however install if they are manually actioned within the software center that muddies the waters even more.
Has anyone ever come across this before, know where to look or has any rational idea as to why this may have happened? The fact the updates install manually more or less disproves any theories I can think of.
