Hi guys,
My Enviornment: SCCM 2012 R2, OS: Windows 2012 R2, in this topic Im talking about my Primary Site (SCCM and MSSQL is installed on the same server) and 3 secondary sites, all of the sites are virtualized.
Our backup strategy looks like that:
- Every morning we do a full backup of the Primary Site VM (incl. harddisk)
But there are two things, which are not clear for me:
1) Which services (names) should I stop during the backup process, to provide a clean full backup of my VM?
Following services are installed on the primary site:
- IIS
- WDS
- WSUS
- SQL
Would that be enough, if I would stop the following services or is there some missing or not required?:
- SMS Agent Host
- SMS_EXECUTIVE
- SMS_NOTIFICATION_SERVER
- SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER
- SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP
- SMS_SITE_VSS_WRITER
- ALL MSSQL Services
2) What is exactly happen for the secondary site servers during the time when the services are stopped on Primary Site for taking a backup.
Lets think about this scenario: I would start an update conetent of an application which is also distributed on one of our secondary site. What happens, when during the update process I would start the backup (which stops all services for lets say 2h) ?
Or would that have a harmful effect to our SCCM Servers?
Thanks in advance
