Software Update Groups Type of Deployment gets changed from available to required everytime ADR adds new updates

Hi

I'm new to using a SCCM software update point for microsoft updates having only used WSUS for the purpose until recently. The problem I'm having is that everytime an ADR runs and adds new updates to an exsisting software update group it changes the type of deployment from its current setting of available to required. I realise that this may not be best practice to make patches available instead of required but we are only a small company with mostly software developers that update their machines when they see fit. I'm running SCCM 2012 SP1 on Windows Server 2012  primary site only no CAS.
