Hi Everyone
Just migrated across to SCCM 2012 from 2007.
Noticed that the restart notification is little different now. For mandatory software updates, after the updates have been installed, it produces a balloon notification for the initial reboot request. This balloon disappear roughly 5 seconds later.
This is my scenario.
- Have a mandatory software updates deployment configured.
- User experience set to restart computer.
- Restart computer policy states 600 minutes for first notification, and 5 minutes for final dialogue box.
- The mandatory time has passed, so the updates will install pretty much straight away.
- User receives a restart balloon notification. Shows up for 5 seconds, and disappears.
- In theory, user will receive a reboot notification box 595 minutes later, which the user cannot hide.
My question is, between the last two steps (between the initial balloon pop up and final reboot box), is it possible to configure further "nagging" balloon pop up reminders in intervals?
The issue will be that, if a user misses the initial restart balloon, and the time that the reboot box appears 5 minutes before the forced reboot, that really is giving the user only 5 minutes warning. I realise i could extend the 5 minute warning to a larger time, but would be ideal if there was a nagging balloon pop ups in between.
UPDATE: Just found that 3 hours after the first balloon notification, i got another one. Would be good if someone knows what is the logic behind this frequency, and if it is configurable.
Thanks,
DM
