All our user workstations are running Windows 7 SP1 w/4GB ram with SCEP client version 4.7.209.0 Over the last few months we have seen extremely slow computers during the def update time frame for SCEP. CPU usage is next to nothing but if we
look at processes with task manager a svchost.exe service is consuming well over 1GB of memory. Often the physical memory % is in the upper 90's as far as a percentage and the hard drive light is fairly constant indicating a fair amount disk usage likely
with SWAP space. When we explore what specifically that svchost process is doing it goes back to the windows update process.
I have the endpoint protection policy set to have the client check for updates twice a day. For my system in particular that ends up being between 8 and 9am and 4 and 5pm. during those times my system comes to a crawl. Our policy is set to download the updates from SCCM and then MU and the malware protection center.
Is anyone else seeing this kind of behavior?
