I’ve had a debate, among out department regarding DP sites and Sites with Low Bandwidth.
My assumption is, if you have Remote Sites like we do, with 150 or less clients, really isn’t necessary to have DP’s in those site, if those sites have high bandwidth, correct ?
For argument sake, we went ahead and deployed the DP’s in each site (5 in total).
The reason for deploying DP sites in each location, 1) App Deployment 2) Patch Tuesday
With App Deployment: It didn’t seem feasible to install ex: “Office 2013”, from one main DP, but rather than from a remote site DP.
We assume the bandwidth would just be clobbered, with this type of deployment.
Is this a correct, assumption?
Patch Tuesday: We figured this same would occur with Patch Tuesday.
Sites with Low Bandwidth;
Although, we don’t currently have low bandwidth sites, we may in the future. Would it be fair to say, if you have a low bandwidthsite, you are better off having a Secondary Site Server for these sites ?
Remote DP’s;
Remote DP’s must get there Windows Updates, from Primary Site, unless you have a Secondary Site Server ?
The reason for this question; A member was trying to relate our old WSUS environment and how the remote WSUS was allowed to download their own Updates from microsoft, and they were trying to compare it with SCCM SUP.
Thank you
