My SCCM 2012 R2 environment consists of a single primary site/site server and 7 Distribution Points deployed to our branch offices. We have one server that has the Software Update Point role. I have boundary groups configured to ensure that branch office clients use the Distribution Point located in the same subnet. This appears to work well for Application distribution.
We have recently started to use SCCM 2012 for Software Updates. However, it appears from a packet capture that the branch office clients are pulling updates from the Software Update Point, rather than from their local Distribution Point. This is causing congestion on our WAN link.
My questions are as follows:
1) Is the expected behaviour that Software Updates are synchronised with each DP, and that clients will install Software Updates from the DP within their boundary?
2) Which client log files show which DP/SUP is being used?
