We are going to be installing Server Updates in stages to insure nothing breaks our system. For example, we want to be able to pick certain machines and put them in a collection and have the patches installed on the 3rd Saturday of the month. If I setup a maintenance window to go from Midnight to Midnight so the whole day is 1 maint window, and the Auto Deployment Rule is set to use the 3rd Saturday:
- Does SCCM stagger the updates so it doesn't install on all the servers at the exact same time?
- Is it smart enough to know there are XX servers so it would only do a certain number at a time?
- Can I control these settings somewhere to tell it to spread things out through the maintenance window?
- If I want to make sure that ALL the machines in this collection install on the specific day, what settings would I need to set so that there isn't a grace period other than some time that day if possible?
- On a side note, is there a way to link SCCM with SCOM and have it set the machines to maintenance mode in SCOM when it starts the process so we don't get tons of alerts going off?
Thanks!
